YAXWE - Yet Another Xacktogether of West & East
The first Yaxwe was a success!
We met in Pula for three days (14-16 September 2007) and it was great! Check some
photos from Yaxwe2007.

"
...it is in the nature of the hacker to differ from others, to differ even from oneself, over time. To hack is to differ. "
We like a lot hacker get-togethers. We had our fun at
What The Hack, at
Chaos Communication Congress, at
Hackmeeting..., and all we missed were two things: (1)
more discussion and (2)
the sea,... and we sure appreciated when a get-together was free or at least not very expensive
We would like this description of
YAXWE to serve as a double
RFCs: as a
Request For Comments and as a
Request For Change. And, with its minimal set of very simple rules, to transform the
YAXWE into a
dumb hub of smart people.
Our
proposal for methodology was based on the experiences we had with lo-fi get-together concepts such as "
Skill sharing", weekly informal gatherings, where people, well,
share skills... or our regional geek/hacker "
Nothing will happen" hang-outs, where, well,
nothing much happens... But both of them proved to work for us
Accordingly, here's the schedule/methodology
- morning meetings after breakfast, where people who wish to share their skills briefly (max. 5 min.) present in what format (a lecture, a workshop, an easy going chat, a presentation, a live coding,...) they intend to share what they have to offer and what level of entry knowledge and participation they expect from participants
- afternoons... hanging out at the beach... Nothing happens...
Few more things
- YAXWE is free of charge for all
- we tried to have self prepared vegetarian food for free, but ended up with restaurant food.
